| New Guideline about Brand Drug Price |

According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the brand drug price will be reduced by 20% to original price when a generic drug is marketed.
According to the new guidelines, the brand drug maker submits evidence related to its patent and the maker can apply for price reassessment once the first generic drug maker applies for insurance reimbursement listing. If the generic drug maker wants to launch its drug immediately after the listing, the brand drug price will go down. However, in case the generic drug maker wants to sell the drug after the patent on the brand drug expires, the price of the brand drug will be reduced after the expiry date of its patent. |
